Groin Pain 2

Groin Pain 2

Question:

Hi,

I ran a half-marathon mid-October and during the race got quite a strong pain in the upper inside leg, very close to floor area. As soon as I finished the race, I was in a lot of pain. I haven’t been able to run one step since then, as the minute I do anything more than a leisurely walk, the pain comes back. I thought rest would have been enough. I have been to a sports doctor, physio and osteopath, who says that while the injury is a pulled ligament, it is all down to a twisted coxic from pregnancy However, despite 2 sessions with the osteopath, I still can’t run. Any suggestions? I am desperate to get my trainers on for Springtime.

Thanks, Jean

Answer:

Dear Jean,

There are many possible causes of inner/thigh groin pain and your symptoms may or may not be related to your pelvic problems. Having had your symptoms since October, it is likely to take several months to completely rectify so I would recommend that you persevere with your chosen form of treatment, whether that is physiotherapy or osteopathy. Very few conditions are ‘cured’ in 2 sessions. You probably need a combination of hands on treatment and specific strengthening and core stability exercises which you will need to do religiously. Kind regards
