Reboot Your Mojo And Get Running Again!

Has lockdown stolen your running mojo? It’s time to get it back and get out again.

When you love running, losing your mojo is one of the worst feelings in the world. Logically, you know you’ll enjoy going for a run. But you just can’t force yourself to do it. You feel tired, low, and rubbish. And the longer it goes on, the worse you feel.

If you’ve been stuck in that rut, make this week the week you get out of it. Here are some suggestions from the running4women team.

  • Run different routes

There’s nothing exciting about running the same old uninspiring routes. We can now drive in order to exercise. So why not take advantage of that? Sit down with an OS map or Google Earth and design a different route that will fires you up to get out there. Make it a real treat to celebrate getting your mojo back!

  • Sign up to an online challenge

There are loads of free online running challenges, races, and events at the moment. Look on social media or just search online for something that interests you. It could be a race (some are even giving out medals!), a mileage challenge, or something for charity.

  • Go exploring

Head out with no particular plan and see where your legs take you. It’s a wonderful, no-pressure way to fall back in love with running. No plan, no pace – just running.

  • Rediscover your neighbourhood

Sometimes the simplest runs can be the most rewarding. Take a trot around your local neighbourhood. Spot the rainbows in windows, seek out the newly-completed gardening projects, find the prettiest planters. You don’t have to travel far.

  • Get a virtual running buddy

A running partner will always motivate you to lace up your trainers and get out of the door. We can now meet one other person for a (socially distanced) run. If you don’t want to do that, message a running friend and agree to check in with each other, share running stories, or even run the same routes on the same days – at different times.
