A Quick Cuppa With…Jane Wilson

Jane is a 45 year old Finance Manager from Ruislip in Middlesex.  She lives with her partner and runs for fitness and weight loss – so far she has lost an incredible 6 stone.

How long have you been running and why did you start?

I started very slowly using the C25k program, my god the first week was horrid, I couldn’t run for a minute never mind do it 8 times. I started weight watchers in Sept 2012 and was training for the Moonwalk (May 2013), so running was the next challenge to help with the weight loss. I have currently lost 6 stone with about another 3 to go (!)

How often do you run?

I try to run at least 3 times a week, one run being at my local Parkrun (Black Park). I’m not very quick and would love to improve but I suppose I’ve just got to learn to be patient and remember how much progress I have made.

What do you listen to when you are running?

All sorts of weird and wonderful music from McFly, a running cd mix.. even Neil Diamond on one run!! I also quite like running without music especially if I trying to improve my breathing technique.

How do you stay focused and disciplined?

Planning my running each week really helps, I’ve entered several races so I always have something to train for. Weight loss is a good way to focus the brain too but I don’t like to rely on the number on the scales too much because sometimes it fluctuates for no apparent reason which in turn has a detrimental effect on my mind.

Other than running what else do you do to keep fit?

I walk a lot and have just started yoga and a few different keep fit classes.

What is your favourite place to run?

Anywhere at the moment.

How long have you been a member of Running4Women?

I’ve been a member from the start of my running journey.

What do you like most about the site?

Having such experience at my fingertips and everyone is so encouraging too.

What are your goals for the coming year?

I’m running a 10k in March but I’m hoping to complete my first half marathon in the autumn.
