Running and Sickness

Question:

Hi, I run 2/3 x week. A few 1/2 marathons. I always feel sick when I run over 9 miles. I tried the sports powders/gels and tried without. I have porridge and peppermint tea before a run. Whenever I run for long distance i just feel sick. Is there a good food idea to help the stomach? I run at 9.15 to 9.40 am, I am 41, 5ft 4ins and 9stone 8. I really enjoy running but wish to enjoy longer distance. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. June

Answer: Dear June,

Are you leaving enough time between your breakfast and your morning run? You should wait at least 2 hours after a meal before training. Smaller portions may also help. You may also find it helpful to speak to a nutritionist.
