Running is officially the British women’s favourite way of working out!

Dance Direct recently compiled a survey to find out exactly how motivated we are when it comes to fitness. The survey went out to only women in the UK, with age categories that began at 18-24, and ended at 65+.

One of the questions concerned methods of improving fitness – and running was the most popular answer in almost all of the age categories! Combining all ages – a quarter of the population would choose to run out of any other fitness method, making it the British women’s favourite way of working out! The only age group that running didn’t come top was the age group 65+, who preferred a less intensive gym work out.

The survey was ran via Google Consumer Surveys, and surveyed 1000 UK women.

The results are as follows:

The running result was the most popular in all age groups, apart from 65+.

The results were also split regionally, and the following key data was collected from this:

  • A massive 100% of Irish women chose running as their preferred fitness method!
  • Women from Scotland are equally as likely to run as they are to go to the gym, achieving 25% for each of these.
  • Only 12% of English women chose running as their preferred fitness method, falling behind attending the gym, workout DVD’s and other types of class.
