Racing and Period Problems
Question:
Hi,
myself and a couple of friends will be entering the Mighty Deerstalker 10k on the 22nd March. One of my friends is having difficulty running while she has her period, usual bloating fatigue pains etc. As this race is a 10K adventure run uphill and over obstacles she is concerned that she will not be able to run and finish or enjoy the event as we have been looking forward to this for months and, as usual her period is due at that time? Do you have any suggestions?
Regards
Christine
Answer:
Dear Christine,
As the event is only a couple of weeks away you need quick fix methods!
Normally I would suggest some hormone balancing herbs such a Agnus Castus, Dong Quai, Blue Cohosh and or Vervain alongside taking supplements containing essential fatty acids, high dose B vitamins and Magnesium with Calcium combination. As the event is so soon your friend will surely be able to reduce any cramping with the Magnesium and Calcium supplement of 360mg Magnesium:Calcium 720mg taken from around 4 days prior to menstruation. A good quality probiotic taken from now until the event is over will help with the bloating.
Good luck to all for the event!
