Menstrual Cycle

Question:

I started running recently. I normally work out for 30 mins about 3 days a week (mostly running). Recently I ramped up by doing a 20 mile bike ride and about 10 mile run for the week. I skipped my period following the work out.

Could this be due to excess workout? If yes, how do I train for a marathon
without having such issues?

Thanks
Gayathri

Answer:

Dear Gayathri,
It sounds like you may be overtraining. This is a phenomenon which can affect your menstrual cycle. I would recommend you get a check-up from your GP and I would also suggest you consult a nutritionist that specialises in sports/athletes.
