I manage to get out only twice a week at the mo for a walk/run for 15 mins. Would really like to improve on this now. And I go to a 2 hour dance class every week which I really enjoy.
Have arranged to go for a walk this evening with a friend as it's really hot today (might end up at the pub for half a shandy!!)

Hi Joanne,
Yes, the walk was lovely thanks. Walked across fields and along the canal for 2 1/2 hours – and the shandy was most refreshing!!.
The following day went to Alton Towers with my daughter. We must have walked miles from one ride to another, I was shattered when we got back. Didn't manage to get out over the weekend

Managed my 15mins walk/jog Tuesday evening. Went to dance class and went out again Saturday morning. My 16 year old daughter ran the Race for Life 10k in Birkenhead on Sunday. It was her first race and she was so proud of herself.

Have only managed to get out a few times over the last couple of weeks. Although last weekend I attended dance workshops for the whole weekend in which I spent many an hour learning dance routines! phew! Have also been out with my little boy yesterday trying to keep up with him on his bike! lol

Linda – that's my main challange atm with running and I think I want things to happen faster than they can – especially with me home educating so they are around the whole time (not complaining!) – taking them to the park and running around it sounds good!

Hi Andrea, must be difficult to get out then if your children are at home full time. How many do you have?
I've just come back from a lovely relaxing holiday in France. And no I didn't do any exercise apart from bike riding and swimming and oh constantly going up and then down the water slides with my little boy! Mind you I did eat healthily.
My little boy started back to school today and my daughter starts college on Monday so hopefully I'll manage to start getting out a bit more.

Linda – I have six children but two are at uni and one is at 6th form college so I am now only home educating three. My husband works from home so with some juggling we can both get out – the hardest time is over the summer as we are really busy with various commitments and hubby is an ultra marathon runner (about 3 a year) so when he is training for those we have to do some pretty hard negociating!!! However – I have realised that I have to make the time anyway I can!!!
I think in one way or another we are all in the same boat – juggling commitments with personal wants/needs – the story of modern life!!!

WOW Angela – you deserve a medal!! You certainly have to juggle, you more than most! But you are right we all have to work round our family and commitments. Keep up the good work!
I have managed to get out twice a week for a 20min walk/jog. And I still attend my dance class once a week which is fine for me at the moment.

I have just been reading your journal again (its encouraging for me to read what other people are doing) and wondering how you are getting on. Has your daughter continued her running after her 10K? My 17 year old son is aiming to run the same 10k as me next spring although he will do it much faster than me as he is very fit. Do you run with your daughter at all?

Hi Andrea,
Haven't been on here for a while! Didn't realise how long it was! I'm still going out twice a week and attend my dance class once a week. I do feel now though I need to do more. My daughter did the fun run at Windsor last month, she was going to dot he 8k but sustained an injury a few weeks before. She has started college and is really busy plus she is in a few shows and a panto over the next few months so time together for running is rare at the moment (although, like your son she is so much fitter than me). How are you getting on?

Just read your journal. That's the beaty of running with children to organise , it's so flexible.Last night my three year old was put to bed and asleep by 8.30 and I nipped out to run(He was't home alone, hubby was in ) Before I started this I only made my aerobics class every one or two weeks. If dinner was late, I'd miss it and so on.Running seems my only option to get fit but it's so flexible it suits my lifestyle (with young kids.) Lovely your daughter can encourage you.Keep it up,I think we may be at a similar stage.Nice to compare notes
Much love
Yvonne

Happy New Year everyone, haven't posted anything for quite a while!! Haven't been out much either, December was so busy with being involved in a panto, going on holiday and being ill over Christmas. Well 2011 is here and I'm armed with new year motivation. Love reading everyone's posts and hopefully that will keep me going! xx
