Buttock/Leg pain

Question -

Hello I’m a keen runner, but for the last 2-3 months have had problems with my pelvis.  I have been to see sports physio, who informed  me my pelvis was out and used acupuncture and stretches to sort me out over 3-4 visits.  This seemed to sort me out, however I have recently stepped up the training and now it seems re-occurring, but not at the same intensity.  It seems the more I do, the easier I move, however I do feel the pull in the buttocks and hamstrings on my left side.  After all that my question is, is it ok to continue with the running, obviously I don’t want to cause any long term harm to myself.

Thanks Janice.

 Answer:

Dear Janice,

It sounds like you still have some muscle imbalance issues around your pelvis. It’s worth booking are-assessment with your physiotherapist to see if any further manual treatment is necessary but I would also recommend that you ask for some specific exercises to help you maintain your core muscle control.

If your symptoms are worsened by training then you should discontinue until they have been addressed.

Kind regards
